For Beatriz Corredor, president of Redeia, “the ecological transition is an urgent process that requires us to redouble our efforts. That is why, at Redeia – through Red Eléctrica – we promote our investments and demonstrate our commitment to Spain’s renewable leadership as a key part of the strategic autonomy of the European Union”.
Along these lines, the CEO, Roberto García Merino, stressed that “2023 will mark a turning point because Red Eléctrica will accelerate our investments in the transmission grid; Our forecast is to reach a volume of more than 700 million euros, approaching the historical highs of 2010 and 2011.”
With a view to the strategic plan, Redeia presented its roadmap with horizon 2025 in February 2021, dedicating 75% of its investment program to the transformation of the energy model through the development of the electricity transmission network and international interconnections, the deployment of storage and the operation of the system.
Currently, in the middle of this plan, the group has already invested almost a third of the planned in electricity transmission activities in Spain and is progressing as planned in the investment in the Salto de Chira plant in Gran Canaria, a tool at the service of the System Operation. In addition, it has also completed its objective of both organic and inorganic investment in international markets, in addition to the fact that more than 40% progress has been made in the objective of investment in satellite activity.
