The plants will deliver energy to the future “STM Sarganella” switching substation, owned by Iberdrola. The grid operator itself, supported by the investment in these projects, will develop a significant improvement in the local energy infrastructure, expanding the distribution network from Mutxamel to Castalla. This will enable the creation of new industrial zones in the Foia de Castalla region, providing greater capacity for electro-intensive consumers, with the socioeconomic benefit and boost this represents for these municipalities, historically home to large industries.
This has been achieved thanks to ongoing work to optimize plant designs, avoiding urban, environmental, and landscape impacts. Key factors include:
• Adapt to the soil morphology, maintaining its original structure intact, using the smallest possible area.
• Mitigate the impact on the Public Hydraulic Domain and avoid altering the current runoff from the land. Detailed flood and hydrological studies.
• Minimize soil erosion. Direct driving technique. There are no foundations on the solar park structures.
• Specific dismantling plan to revert to land use at the end of the plants’ useful life.
• Minimize visual impact on the entire surroundings of the plants. Landscape integration study conducted by a local specialist with more than 25 years of experience.
• Maintain appropriate distances from population centres and established urban areas, to the extent possible. Respect legal requirements regarding distances from any existing buildings.
• Minimize impact on evacuation lines by avoiding approaching buildings and burying some sections underground, as required by the Generalitat (Valencian Government).
