Solar and storage inverters with new functionalities will be essential TO safely integrate into the grid the large amount of renewables that will be installed in the coming years.
That is the main conclusion of the white paper entitled “What advanced grid functionalities should state-of-the-art inverters offer?” . The manufacturer of electrical equipment for the renewable sector, Gamesa Electric, has recently published: “In the complex process of the energy transition towards a generation without emissions there is a great forgotten: the grid”. For his part, Andrés Agudo, Chief Technology Officer at Gamesa Electric commented: “and we must bear in mind that a large part of the auxiliary services now provided by the large synchronous generators of fossil generation plants will have to be replaced by solar, wind and storage inverters”.
Most of the solar and storage inverters currently installed have basic network functionalities, for this “we must make the leap to advanced inverters, such as our Proteus model, with advanced network functionalities, such as rapid response in frequency and voltage, or black-start”, said Andrés Agudo.
